RAINDROP is one of the best guards that will help control hanging icicles at the gutter edge.  It will not totally eliminate your ice build-up problems above the gutter (which is proven to be related to roof insulation/ventilation problems) but it will...

                             RECOVERS  FASTER

after a snow fall and help accelerate thaw at the gutter edge.   This gets your gutters system back to work faster than any other gutter guard product on the market or if you had no guards at all. 

First off...RAINDROP will keep your gutters clear before the winter sets in.  Then (pending snow conditions) will keep the snow on top of the gutter and leave the gutter clear.

Then, let nature take its course.  Houses begin thawing out at the peaks (from the homes heat) - then the roof edges from the radiant sun against the homes exteriors.  RAINDROP's heat absorbing benefit will thaw the guards/gutters leading edge.

Once RAINDROP's leading edge has a slight opening exposed, it will begin to handle the thaw run-off water.  And most importantly, the water has a place to go.

Nightfall will bring on another freeze...but with the next days warmer temperatures, mother-nature needs not thaw out an entire solid gutter of ice - just the small left over frozen trickle.

RAINDROP is a surface mounted carefully designed guard across the top of the gutter and Is NOT  & Does NOT fill the inside of the gutter, or is it a fine mesh, or a metal solid cover... our Charcoal Black has the best test results that show the recovery time after a snowfall is much better than those other types of guards. 

No one can foresee Mother Natures infinite combination of preciptation and temperature conditions. Likewise, every home is constructed and situated differently from their neighbors and varries across the country.  That being said, if icicles form along the gutter (with or without guards) do not panic, it will not happen all the time and let nature take its course.      

For homes with inadequate insulation & ventilation, ice will be a problem (with or without guards) until those issues are corrected.  

Icicles along the front of the gutter edge is precisely why RAINDROP was designed to incorporate a solution.  In situation of known areas of EXTREME ICE PROBLEMS... 
electric heat cables can be installed suspended from the bottom of our guards.  "S" hooks are used position the heat cable precisely below the lip of the gutter, approximately 1" from the guard and the leading edge of the gutter the down the downspout.  This positioning melts ice along the leading edge both on the guard and in the gutter.  Other guard system have incorporated a heat eliment as well, but caution should be taken to foresee where the melt water will dispurse.

RAINDROP is NOT a flat laying system.  Therefore the inevitable debris build-up problem associated with such guard types is dramatically (if not entirely) eliminated. 

Even guards that are made of non-combustible materials... it's the debris build-up that burns and creates the danger.

RAINDROP's SELF CLEANING properties greatly reduce this debris build-up risk.  It's surface was designed to be forward sloping, smooth, and with no ridges, bumps, or surfaces higher or reverse/back flow to the roof surface. 

RAINDROP sheds leafs and debris debris off its surface without full dependency on heavy winds blowing debris off..

RAINDROP is a designed open grid which allows the gutter to dry out between rainfalls but has small enough aperatures to keep bugs and bees out. 

RAINDROP's open air design allows gutter to dry and substantially hinders the infestations of ants, earwigs, beetles, spiders, etc..  from breeding and migrating into the homes living area.

Not Being a "solid hood" type guard is a definite advantage for RAINDROP... 

         Therefore...it does not make an attractive
                   habitat  or infestation   of   bees,             
         mosquitos, spiders,  and many other insects.
